Access to legal journals from Oxford University Press

Earlier this month it was announced that the universities in the Netherlands and Oxford University Press (OUP) didn’t come to a new license agreement for access to academic journals.

Limited access
As a result, the access for most of the OUP journals is - as of today - limited to the years 2006 to 2016 inclusive. The most recent (2017) articles are not available at the moment. This situation will last until a new license agreement is reached.

Alternatives
With various results you can:

  • Use our Β E-journals list to find out if a journal is covered by another subscription (e.g. the databases HeinOnline or Westlaw);
  • Try to find the author version (i.e. the last version of an article before it is published in a journal) via Google Scholar;
  • Use the tools Unpaywall or Open Access Button.

(The best option for recent articles is probably to use your international network.)

The limited availability concerns the following legal journals and yearbooks:
European Journal of International Law, International Journal of Refugee Law, Journal of European Competition Law & Practice, Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice, Journal of International Criminal Justice, International Data Privacy Law, Human Rights Law Review, Journal of International Economic Law, International Journal of Constitutional Law, International Journal of Transitional Justice, ICSID Review - Foreign Investment Law Journal, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Competition Law & Economics, The Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization and Journal of Environmental Law.
