Comments Off on Publications of the Council of Europe: Human Rights handbooks

The Council of Europe publishes Human Rights handbooks: Practical guides to the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights.

These handbooks are written by experts in the freedom-of-expressionfield, and each guide deals with one aspect of the European Convention on Human Rights, or its Protocols. For example: among the total of fourteen handbooks there are (PDF) guides on "Freedom of expression", "The right to a fair trial" and "Freedom of thought, conscience and religion".

These handbooks are intended as a guideline to how particular articles of the European Convention on Human Rights have been applied and interpreted by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

For an overview of all available handbooks, please refer to the website of the Council of Europe’s Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law.
