CataloguePlus - the online search engine of the UvA Library - has had a makeover. Besides a brand-new look and feel, CataloguePlus is now easier to use on mobile devices. Below are some tips and tricks to get you started using the new catalogue.
Start searching
For a Basic search, type a search term in the search bar. A drop-down menu will appear giving you the option of searching the entire CataloguePlus or limiting your search to books or e-articles.
TIP: Content from many legal journals (and some e-books) is not available through CataloguePlus. Other databases (e.g. Westlaw, HeinOnline and Rechtsorde) are more suitable for finding legal articles.
Search results
After performing a search you can refine the results with the filter options on the right hand side (or at the bottom of the screen on your phone or tablet). By default the results are ordered by relevance.
TIP: To make sure you found the most recent edition of a book, sort the results by date-newest.
Found the item you need? Notice that the search results show at which library the book is available. Use the call number to find the book on the shelf or click on the title to request it.
Renew and request
Although CataloguePlus is accessible without login, some options are only available after signing into your account.
TIP: Sign in to:
- check your library account and renew your loans (My library card / My loans)
- request items
- save records and searches permanently (click the pushpin icon)
- get off-campus access to full-text publications
