OAPEN Library – freely accessible academic books

The book Applicable Law in Investor-State Arbitration by UvA researcher Hege Elisabeth Kjos is available as an Oxford University Press (OUP) publication as well as a freely available Open Access book in the OAPEN Library. This as a result of OUP’s participation in OAPEN (UK).

The OAPEN Library is a collection of scholarly titles (peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes) in the humanities and social sciences from several academic publishers and research institutes  e.g. OUP, Brill, Amsterdam University Press, IOS Press. It is a hybrid publication approach, combining open access (OA) and traditional print (or Print on Demand) publishing.

The monograph authored by Hege Elisabeth Kjos is now (1) peer-reviewed and published by an academic publisher of established reputation and (2) Open Access, i.e.  fully downloadable as a freely available PDF for everybody in the world, which brings increased visibility, and hopefully more usage and impact of her work.

The OAPEN Library is the output catalogue of OAPEN, a mission-driven network dedicated to promoting OA publishing as an essential service to the academic community. The OAPEN publication model is based on the assumption that publishers produce OA formats as a service for which they can charge a publication fee, paid by research funding bodies.
