Looking for newspaper articles? Nexis Uni provides access to a vast number of Dutch and international newspapers, as well as several legal resources. Law students and researchers can also use Nexis Uni to find case reports from other countries - very helpful if you're less familiar with those countries' legal systems.
Nexis Uni has received a recent upgrade resulting in a new look and some changes that make searching this database easier. This blog post highlights the main features and updates.
Available sources
Nexis Uni contains thousands of newspapers as well as professional magazines. For a complete overview, click on Sources in the navigation bar at the top. To find a specific source, use the search box Search within sources.
The date range and update schedule varies per source. Most newspapers are available starting from the 1990s. For specifics per title, click on the three dots next to a source title and then select Get more information.
Find a specific publication or article
Are you looking for a specific article? Enter the title in the search box on the home page. Put the title in quotation marks to limit your search results (phrase searching).
Do you want to search within a specific newspaper or journal? Find the publication via Sources and click on the title. On the next page, you can start searching within the selected publication via the search box on the left side. There are also several filters available, including Timeline to set a date range.
Find articles on a specific topic
It is also possible to search all available sources for articles on a particular topic. To do this, enter relevant keywords in the search box on the homepage. You can use the Date and Content Type dropdown-lists to set a date range or specific content category. On the results page, you can refine your search results by entering additional keywords or using the filters in the menu on the left side of the page.
Notice that when you start typing in the search box, the Advanced Search option appears below the it. Click on the link to open the Advanced Search form which will help you build a more advanced search query.
If you want to perform an even more advanced search, select Power Search in the navigation bar at the top of the page. This will open a search form that will help you create very specific search queries. Refer to the Nexis help centre for detailed instructions on Power Search.
Text-only
Note that Nexis Uni provides access to text-only versions of articles; images are not included. Some publications offer PDFs of the original article as published in the paper or magazine. If available, there will be a link below the article referring to the original page number.
